Why Test Urine? As pets age, subtle changes can happen long before you notice signs at home. A simple urine test screens for early kidney disease and can detect signs of UTIs or inflammation — before they become bigger problems.
Dogs
Use a thoroughly washed and dried container — lower-sided for females, a ladle for males. The first wee of the day is best. Can’t collect at home? Leave your dog in the car and we’ll help on arrival.
Cats
If their bladder is full enough, we can collect the sample directly at the clinic. Otherwise, collect at home using non-absorbent kitty litter in a clean, dry litter tray.
What to do with your sample
Pop ~1 tablespoon into a thoroughly clean and dry jar with a secure lid. Keep it in the fridge and bring to your appointment — ideally the same day.
